This spacious apartment located on the Upper West Side has breath taking views of Manhattan from all the rooms, so the common areas were designed intentionally to give focus to the outside. The warm subdued tones and the understated artwork allows for the city of Manhattan to be the attention grabber.
The client requested the project to be completed within just a few months so that when it came time to move in, the apartment would feel like a lived-in home. With such a difficult task, the project was completed in just a little over 4 months. We even surprised ourselves that this could be accomplished just shortly after the COVID pandemic! Our clients are now happy and living their best life in their tree house in the middle of Manhattan.
The extensive restoration project was a true collaboration between designer, client, and contractor which took two years to complete. When purchased by the clients, this 8,000 SQF three story Tudor home was bogged down by a lot of dark wood, panels and moldings. While keeping with the original Tudor aesthetic we also needed to brighten it up. Preserving the dark panels and moldings in the foyer and replacing the dark oak moldings throughout the rest of the house allowed for the perfect marriage of both old and new. Switching out the dark coffered ceiling in the dining room and replacing it with a soft white coffered ceiling helped to open the space. From window restoration, to converting a room into a walk-in closet and a full over-haul of this historic beauty, this gem now stands tall in the charming town of Montclair.
A true bachelor pad with exposed brick walls and a spiral staircase is nicely juxtaposed with quirky artwork and a punch of bright colors. Clean, simple and on budget was the main objective for this bachelor’s home. By simply replacing the kitchen backsplash with a clean Carrara marble subway tile really paid off since the space is an open floor plan and the kitchen is visible from all areas of the apartment. Gray tones and color pops bring this pad to life!
A full renovation of the apartment’s kitchen allowed us to open the space up with improved flow and functionality of the main room. A custom kitchen island that waterfalls down into a dining table gives the visual appeal that was needed. Custom flat kitchen cabinets and the gorgeous Apparatus light fixture that hangs above the dining table delivers a modern touch. And what can we say about the blue room? It’s blue, bold and beautiful! A perfect haven for our dreamy clients and their fur baby, Rex!
Soft tones of peach, pink and blues with touches of walnut wood throughout gives this cozy Brooklyn apartment a feminine aesthetic without feeling fussy. Custom sheer roman shades allow for natural light to fill the apartment and to bounce off the exposed brick walls. The textured brick is juxtaposed nicely with the softer elements to bring drama and warmth. The bedroom posed a small challenge, with it being small! Using the existing closet doors, we had custom sized antique mirrors installed on the door panels which gives the illusion that the bedroom is larger than what it is. With the finishing touches of custom pillows and whimsical accessories and art, this lovely apartment perfectly reflects the client that resides here.
This NJ house’s kitchen was completely gutted, and the garage space was replaced with a family room. This gave way for a large open concept for the kitchen and dining room. The clients requested a boho chic atmosphere with some tribal accents here and there. The large primary bathroom is layered with large marble field tiles and mosaics giving the space beautiful texture without feeling closed in. This home is spiffed up with custom built-ins and cabinets. layers of blue, gray and cream tones give this young family a place to relax from their Manhattan commute.
Tucked away at the edge of China Town this lofty apartment exudes sophistication and serenity. The crisp white painted walls and ceiling evokes the feeling of an art gallery allowing the art works of Rachel Garrard and Peter Lik to take center stage in the main living spaces. Walnut wood and white furniture combined with Apparatus lighting assist with creating a modern atmosphere. The south wall row of windows are lightly dressed to expose the grit of the neighborhood, a reminder that the bachelor is living in one of the greatest cities in the world.
The bedroom is clean and modern keeping with the walnut and white scheme with a custom dressing room that is open to the space. Bottles of sand that was collected over the years by the client and their mother at various beaches sits in perfect rows on the shelf next to the bed, which gives the feeling of an art installation but one that is truly personal to the client. This home is a perfect refuge for the busy New Yorker.
Floor to ceiling windows on the north facing walls of both the main living space and the bedroom sets the tone for this apartment. By dressing the windows in wool drapery, it brings attention to the high ceilings and creates a backdrop for the neutral toned furniture. The client’s favorite color is blue which we used for the living room area. However, the bedroom is furnished in tones of grays, golds and charcoals giving it a moody cozy aesthetic. The client has some pretty cool friends who are artists, and we wanted to showcase their works in both the living room and bedroom. One may notice the teeth form we placed on the nightstand, that’s because the one who sleeps here is a dentist and after a day of working in the office the artwork that was strategically hung above the bed is a reminder that, yes! They can dive right into the crisp linens for a good night’s rest.
Sometimes our smaller projects need a little love and attention also. All snapped with a cellphone camera, these spaces are worth a gander as well!
